The stresses and strains of everyday life can be overwhelming for us at times. Sometimes we need circuit breakers to enable us to experience spaciousness, ease, and a more nourishing sense of connection with ourselves, with others and with the world generally.

This is an 8-week Breathworks Mindfulness course, based on its mindfulness for stress course. You will learn the foundational skills of mindfulness, compassion, and meditation, and how to apply them in your life in a way that really makes a difference.

We'll be cultivating a supportive and friendly small-group setting, will teach you how to boost your happiness and well-being, find new sources of resilience, joy, and calm in your life, and to cope with stress, anxiety, fear, and depression.

Ratnajyoti is an accredited Breathwork teacher with many years experience teaching meditation and mindfulness in both Buddhist and secular contexts.

Who is the course for?

This comprehensive course in mindfulness includes practical tools to develop more mindfulness in your life, introduces how to incorporate meditation in your daily routine as well as presenting an understanding of how mindfulness works and the great reasons we know to practice mindfulness. It helps us to combat stress, anxiety and depression; learn the value of acceptance; choose how to respond to unwanted experiences; and improve your happiness and well-being.

Who is running the course?

Ratnajyoti Horneman has been teaching meditation and mindfulness for thirty years. Having initially learnt and practiced meditation in a Buddhist context, he has a long-experience of teaching both mindfulness and meditation in a secular setting, including in staff wellness programs with NSW Health, the RPA pain management clinic and corporate workplace wellness. He is an accredited Breathworks and Mindfulness in Schools Project teacher.

What do I need to bring?

Just wear some comfortable clothes. We'll be sitting on chairs for the meditation sessions, although you're also welcome to bring any meditation gear you have, such as a stool or meditation cushion. We will have a break around 7:30pm so if you need a snack or something particular to drink, feel free to bring it along with you.

The course is held at Bodhi Books and Gifts, 375 King Street, Newtown. It's a few minutes walk away from Newtown train station.

Train

Cross King Street after exiting the Newtown train station. Turn left and walk south down King Street. Bodhi is about 100m, just 3 doors from the end of the first block.

Buses

Any bus that comes through Newtown will come close to Bodhi. If you hop off at Newtown station, please follow the instructions above.

Car

There is parking in front of Bodhi on King Street from 5:30pm. Parking tickets are required. You may find a park in the back streets nearby, but they mostly have time restrictions of 2 hours.
